About this role:

As an Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in assessing the evaluating insurance applications to determine the level of risk involved and whether to approve or decline coverage. You will work closely with our team of underwriters, agents, and brokers to ensure that all policies adhere to company guidelines and regulatory standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing insurance applications and supporting documents to gather pertinent information regarding the insured’s risk profile, coverage needs, and financial status.
  • Analyzing data, including loss history, claims reports, and financial statements, to assess risk factors and determine the appropriate level of coverage.
  • Communicating with agents, brokers, and insured parties to obtain additional information, clarify policy terms, and address any concerns or questions.
  • Collaborating with other underwriters and departmental terms to ensure consistency in underwriting decisions and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Providing excellent customer service by responding promptly to inquiries, resolving issues, and cultivating positive relationships with stakeholders.

Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience with commercial underwriting.
  • Proven experience as an Underwriter or similar role in the insurance industry.
  • Must have your property and casualty license.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex risks and make informed decisions.
  • Sound knowledge of insurance policies, contracts, and industry regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with brokers, agents, and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficient in using underwriting software and other relevant tools.

Salary: $75,000 - $115,000 depending on experience, plus bonus

Job Type: Full-time

Location: Denver, CO (Hybrid 3-days in the office)
