Mechanical Engineering Technician (Afternoon Shift)

Woodinville, WA - Full Time – Onsite

Modern Hydrogen has an immediate opening for a talented Mechanical Engineering Technician. In this role, you will operate and maintain state-of-the-art mechanical and chemical processing equipment. You will assemble and optimize test stands, enhance work instructions, and support diverse projects in a fast-paced research environment.

This is an onsite role with no remote work. The Mechanical Engineering Technician will be required to work onsite in our facility in Woodinville, WA and attend quarterly company events in the Seattle area. These events are geared towards fostering connections between colleagues, building a strong team, and having fun together.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Operating and maintaining mechanical and chemical processing equipment per standard work instructions.
  • Assembling test stands and other equipment as per drawings.
  • Identifying, analyzing, and implementing improvements to work instructions.
  • Supporting a variety of projects in a fast-paced, dynamic research environment.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organized work environment and championing continuous improvement in these areas.
  • Travel requirement: up to 20% to project sites throughout the United States may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, trade school certificate preferred.
  • 4-5+ years years of industry experience in oil and gas, chemical processing, machinery maintenance or a similar field.
  • Able and willing to wear personal protective equipment to perform required job tasks, including hearing protection, steel-toed boots, hard hat, and respiratory protection.
  • Able to safely use standard tools (drills, wrenches, sockets etc.)
  • Ability to follow basic written instructions and technical drawings/schematics.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint), as well as chat and teleconferencing applications (e.g. Teams, Slack).
  • Consistent with applicable federal, state, and local laws, the ability to pass a drug and alcohol test based on customer site requirements.

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in an engineering or related discipline.
  • 7+ years of industry experience in oil and gas, chemical processing, machinery maintenance or a similar field.
  • Experience maintaining and operating chemical processing equipment.
  • Desire and ability to be a leader in personnel safety and teamwork dynamics.
  • Ability to work independently of direct supervision.
  • Impeccable organization, prioritization, time management, and planning skills.
  • Able to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Able to adapt to changing requirements quickly in a fast-paced environment.

  • Pay rate is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
