The Role: Senior Underwriter - Cyber & Tech E&O (NYC-Based)
Our client is seeking a seasoned Cyber underwriter who understands the nuances of the NYC market and is ready to take on a strategic, high-impact role. You'll be responsible for underwriting complex Cyber and Technology E&O risks, building broker relationships, and helping shape our underwriting strategy in one of the most dynamic insurance hubs in the world.
What You'll Do:
- Underwrite and price Cyber and Tech E&O risks, with a focus on emerging exposures and evolving threat landscapes.
- Draft and negotiate customized policy language and endorsements.
- Leverage your broker network to drive new business and deepen existing relationships.
- Represent the company at NYC-based industry events, round tables, and conferences.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify cross-sell opportunities and support broader growth initiatives.
- Analyze portfolio performance and contribute to strategic planning and product development.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal underwriting standards.
- Take part in special projects that support innovation and operational efficiency.
What You Bring
Your Background:
- Around 5 years of experience underwriting Cyber and/or Tech E&O risks, ideally in the NYC market.
- Bachelor's degree in business, insurance, cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Strong broker relationships across the U.S., with a focus on New York-based wholesale and retail partners.
- Experience drafting and negotiating policy wordings and endorsements.
- Professional designations (e.g., CPCU, RPLU, ACII) are a plus.
Your Skills:
- Deep understanding of cyber risk trends, threat vectors, and regulatory environments.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and build trust.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a fast-paced workload.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Mac OS is a bonus.
- Comfortable leading client and broker meetings and presenting at industry events.
- Interest in emerging tech sectors like AI, blockchain, and biotech is a strong differentiator.
