Job Description

Spherical Search have have partnered up with a multi-billion dollar industry leading manufacturer of secondary packaging & labelling for the food & beverage space. They have manufacturing globally and also serve other industries.

We are looking for a Quality Manager for their Food & Beverage division, to work in their Sioux Falls, SD site.

Job Summary:

Develops, implements, and coordinates the quality process to prevent or eliminate non-conformances in new or existing products and processes. Oversees the Quality Assurance department to ensure the production processes meet consistent standards. Duties include developing and implementing quality control tests, inspecting products at various stages, conducting audits, writing reports, maintaining certifications, documenting issues and driving corrective actions. Serve as a company representative. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company's policies and applicable laws.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Direct Reports: 4-7 employees

• Effectively leading team to meet business goals

• Creating and managing team schedules

• Managing workflow of the department and delegating tasks

• Training of team members to ensure job duties are performed efficiently and effectively

• Setting goals for workers and ensuring compliance with the company goals and objectives

• Evaluating performance and providing feedback on an ongoing basis

• Resolving employee issues and disputes

• Prepare and enforce corrective actions

• Maintain plant standards to ensure BRC and cGMP requirements are met • Enforcing compliance with company policies

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the upper management team to set quality benchmarks

• Create standards in accordance with industry standards and customer expectations

• Identify quality control processes to ensure criteria are met at all times

• Execute tests to check final product adherence to the company standards

• Supervise department personnel to ensure efficient use of time, materials and resources, establish department and individual goals, and coach to improve performance within the department.

• Provide process management to meet quality standards required by customers.

• Manage customer complaints and work with others to resolve for customer and company satisfaction.

• Maintain and expand all quality certification requirements.

• Manage and properly close out corrective action process to correct non-conformances or complaints.

• Communicate customer issues with operations team and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems, non-conformities and complaints

• Interview, assign, schedule, monitor, coach, counsel, appraise, review job contributions and discipline employees.

• Forecast staffing requirements based on scheduled jobs and manage staff levels and hours to meet or exceed operations labor budget expectations.

• Manage relationships with key personnel.

• Identify process improvement opportunities and implement necessary changes to positively impact production.

• Participate and support all local, state and federal inspections.

• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Prior experience as a quality manager in a production processing environment

• In-depth understanding of industry quality standards and processes

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong leadership and management skills

• Detail oriented and highly organized

• Skilled in time management and prioritization

• Excellent critical thinking skills

• Ability to make independent decisions

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and other systems as required

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.

• Preferred 5-10 years industry experience and quality standards

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in supervising employees

Physical Requirements:

• Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms.

• Regularly communicate in some manner either by speech/ hearing or through written communication.

• Frequently required to stand, walk and sit.

• Excellent visual discrimination for defect identification.

• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Occasionally climb and balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
