ResponsibilitiesJOB SUMMARY
A Long-term care (LTC) pharmacy technician works with licensed pharmacists to provide pharmacy services to LTC. LTC includes, but is not limited to nursing homes, group homes, adult daycare centers, and assisted living facilities. Primary duties include medication order processing, unit dosing product, medical record maintenance (MAR), treatment record updating (TAR), literal orders, packaging, and anti-psychotic record upkeep. Records produced are reviewed by a licensed pharmacist and reside in the chart at the facility. These records are subjected to state mandated surveys, where fines will be applied if deemed non-compliant. In addition, a LTC technician is trained in all other aspects of the LTC pharmacy service. This includes stocking emergency boxes, answering questions from customers, maintaining various forms required by state law and the removal of expired medications from serviced facilities. Travel to facilities is required to do physical counts of emergency boxes and expired drug reviews. Hours will vary as patient care is the first priority.
