Salary: $120,000-150,000+ (Based on Experience)

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Controller to join a dynamic construction firm in Vista, CA . This role is crucial in overseeing financial reporting, job costing, general ledger management, and payroll processing to ensure financial accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong construction accounting background , proficiency in AR/AP , and experience with certified payroll .

This is an on-site position with no remote work opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger management, job costing, and financial reporting for construction projects.
• Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes efficiently.
• Ensure accurate certified payroll processing and compliance with industry regulations.
• Utilize Foundation Software or other construction accounting systems to track project finances.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budget reports, and cash flow forecasts .
• Collaborate with Project Managers and administrative staff to ensure accurate job costing and financial tracking.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes , reconciliations, and audits.
• Monitor compliance with state and federal construction accounting regulations .
• Identify and implement process improvements for greater financial efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience , preferably within the construction industry .
• Strong understanding of general ledger, job costing, and financial reporting .
• Experience with certified payroll processing and construction compliance requirements .
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) .
• Experience with Foundation Software is preferred, but candidates with strong accounting backgrounds will be considered.
• Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills , with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• No remote work – must be available to work on-site in Vista, CA .
