Position: Senior Product Owner

Onsite hybrid 3X in Durham, NC

FTE

Base Salary: Competitive base + 10% bonus + stock options

Interview/start: ASAP

Interview process: Virtual + onsite

MUST:

• 5+ minimum years of experience working within IT within one of these: a business systems analyst, product owner, business analyst (be cautious on product managers, they typically want to do business strategy and market research, and no tin the weeds and write out detailed requirements, talk to devs day in/day out- which is what we need)
• 5+ years of experience in insurance domain; annuity/life preferred, or financial services (Annuities number #1 preference, life insurance #2, general insurance #3, financial services last resort (minimum) )
• Ability to be a true “senior” representing the manager of the team and backing that person up , ability to mentor and has shown leadership in experience
• Must have strong communication super important, talk to business leaders
• Has worked with a development team directly
• Ability to write detailed Jira requirements and present to testers and dev’s
• Someone who is comfortable with execution, not a ton of high level strategy
• Strong experience gathering and tracking requirements (with business and technical) They are getting projects done, tracking requirements, tracking testing and deployment.
• Has used : JIRA or TFS (some requirements management system)
• Has been in an Agile development environment
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Experience Tracking tasks and follow up with stakeholder to drive project to completion.
• Has worked on a policy admin system and owned an area of it (if not insurance then a system that financial services company has ran financials off of )
• Has handled production issues that arise within product

PLUS:

• Love to hire from NY Life OR FAST Systems
• Could hire from PennyMAC (financial services)
• Policy admin experience highly required- like FAST
• Experience with Insurance Product development and calculation validation

Responsibilities:

• You will collaborate with onshore and offshore teams daily.
• Communicate with technical teams as well as business units and consistently striving to make progress on requirements for the projects that this person is assigned to.
• Gather requirements and document them in Jira as well as work to resolve production issues which always take priority.
• This team handles both maintenance and new product work, so we are looking for someone comfortable with both sides.
• This person will eventually become an expert of our insurance policy admin systems (FAST and others) and we are seeking someone who can communicate with our business and technical teams both.
• Lead discussions with cross functional teams to develop system requirements and refine document requirements daily.
• Track requirements across dev, testing, and deployment.
• Lead discussions, help mentor junior Product Owners, and prioritize many projects in a fast paced environment.
• Drive project execution and be proactive while reporting on project progress, blockers, and risks.
