Job Description

Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for community management? First Community Management is seeking a dedicated Community Manager to oversee a portfolio of 10 Chicago area communities. At FCM, we empower our managers with robust support, allowing them to focus on what they do best: managing properties. Join us in the role of Community Manager and work closely with Board of Directors to efficiently manage community associations, including financial oversight, facilities management, contract negotiation, maintenance supervision, record keeping, and effective communication.

Why Choose FCM:

  • Flexibility & Technology: Work from home or our convenient West Town office, leveraging state-of-the-art technology for seamless operations.
  • No In-Person Meetings: Most Board meetings are held electronically, and we provide comp time for any evening commitments.

  • Growth and Development: Access education and leadership opportunities to advance your career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Legal Compliance: Maintain a deep understanding of the Illinois Condominium Property Act, Common Interest Community Act, and local ordinances, as well as each Association's governing documents.
  • Financial Management: Process invoices, analyze financial statements, address delinquencies, manage cash flow, and draft annual budgets.
  • Property Oversight: Inspect properties, secure bids, negotiate contracts, and supervise maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
  • Board Collaboration: Prepare agendas, board packets, and facilitate quarterly board meetings.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, train, manage, and oversee building staff, both union and non-union.
  • Conflict Resolution: Investigate and resolve complaints, disturbances, and violations.
  • Effective Communication: Utilize your expertise to keep the Board of Directors informed and make recommendations regarding Association matters. Communicate clearly with the Board, internal departments, and external vendors.

Required Skills:

  • Efficient time management
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Responsive and proactive
  • Professional demeanor
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities

Required Education and Experience:

  • 1+ years of property management experience (City of Chicago experience preferred)
  • Illinois Community Association Manager (CAM) license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CMCA Certification
  • Relevant coursework or classes at the secondary or college level

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position with regular hours from Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. While some evening meetings are required, we provide comp time to ensure work-life balance.

You must be based within 40 minutes of downtown Chicago. The position is remote but requires regular building site-visits and occasional in-office days.
