Job Description

Summary:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager will oversee all aspects of quality assurance and sanitation, ensuring food safety and product quality standards are met. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing the Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs and strategy in accordance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations. The QA Manager will lead the QA team to ensure the production of safe food products with the highest quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Address safety, quality, and compliance issues promptly and effectively.
  • Manage investigations, analyses, and reporting of quality issues, identifying root causes and taking necessary actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Participate in mock recalls as required.
  • Develop and maintain relevant policies and documentation, including HACCP, recall policies and procedures, food safety, and other GMPs.
  • Establish quality policies and procedures, monitor adherence, and report on performance.
  • Manage the Quality Assurance team, enforcing company standards and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and audit certifications.
  • Champion quality and food safety initiatives to monitor and document product, facility, and worker compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory officials for compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Oversee all plant HACCP, pre-requisite quality programs, and all quality/food safety-related programs to meet regulatory requirements.
  • 5+ years of experience within Quality Control/Assurance, primarily within food manufacturing.
  • Experience in food safety matters, corporate regulatory work, and direct experience working in a plant.
  • Bachelor’s degree in quality management, Engineering, Food Science, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5+ years managing a team.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and quality system requirements – BRC, HACCP.
  • Good Manufacturing Process (GMP) and audit regulations.
  • Excellent quantitative/analytical skills with continuous improvement experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, strong analytical skills, strategic and critical thinking skills, problem-solving, and troubleshooting ability.
  • Results-oriented and able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis and CAPA management.
  • Flexibility to support multiple locations and production shifts, including weekends and holidays.
