About Broward Children’s Center (BCC)
Broward Children’s Center (BCC) is dedicated to transforming lives by providing specialized care to children and young adults who are medically fragile and developmentally disabled. Our comprehensive services range from 24/7 skilled nursing at our pediatric care facility to developmental education programs, therapeutic support, and family-centered services like respite care, social services, and in-home health support.
With unique programs including ABA therapy, developmental preschools, K-12, Home Health and PPEC outpatient care, BCC ensures each individual receives tailored support to thrive. Summary
Instructs and assists in the development of the classroom setting.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two-year degree with
course work towards early childhood education or related fields, or two years of college
with six or more hours in early childhood education or Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.
Qualifications

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid Florida Driver's License
HIV Course, CPR
40 Hours Child-care Course, Annual 10-hour In-Service Trainings
A Confidentiality Agreement is required and must be signed upon commencement of service.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Provide a safe, happy and healthy environment in which they are capable of growing and learning.
2. Create a warm, child-centered environment.
3. Recognize and cater to each child's individual needs.
4. Encourage active exploration of the world, help children learn about the world and their place in it.
5. Help children develop a positive self-esteem.
6. Provide discipline in a positive and consistent manner, using redirection, positive reinforcement and positive guidance.
7. Give children opportunities to make choices.
8. Provide an environment that encourages play, curiosity, problem solving and exploration.
9. Provide a balanced schedule which provides: indoor/outdoor play, individual/small group/large group; large motor/fine motor; child initiated/teacher initiated; quiet/active activities.
10. Take responsibility for classroom management.
11. Plan age-appropriate weekly lesson plans and monthly calendars.
12. Communicate with parents about child's day by doing share sheets, parent teacher conferences, verbal communications.
13. Follows programs and recommendations of Lead Teacher
14. Reports parental concerns to Educational Director/Social Worker.
15. Reports any sign of abuse to Educational Director/Social Worker.
16. Reports accidents to school nurse.
17 Supervises teacher aide in the classroom if applicable.
18. Makes recommendations in students' placement.
19. Purchases small supplies through petty cash as needed.
20. Provides activities during aftercare program.
21. Proficient use of easy IEP.
22. Data collection, every goal 2x weekly.
23. Ability to write PLP & measurable goals & objects.
24. Work with outside agencies to improve the quality of our program.
