Job Description
Multi-national company with signifcant global footprint and market share seeks to add a new member to its North American leadership team with subject matter expertise in international logistics management. This role will serve as an internal consultant and subject matter expert to the leadership team as well as manage a small Shipping and Receiving team.
*This position is 100% office-based (no telework available)
What you will do:
- Develop and manage global freight strategies to optimize supply chain efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- Serve as the company’s subject matter expert on international and regional trade compliance, import/export laws, and regulations.
- Manage key supply chain relationships with freight carriers and brokers. Drive cost efficiencies while delivering on defined KPIs.
- Manage international shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and import/export laws, including tracking shipments, handling customs clearance issues, and managing required documentation. Collaborate with customs brokers to facilitate timely clearance, stay updated on global customs laws, tariffs, and tax regulations, and ensure accurate calculation of duties and taxes to minimize financial impact.
- Ensure products are delivered on time, cost-effectively, and in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Lead and manage logistics-related projects, from planning to execution. This includes creating business requirements, project timelines, identifying risks, and ensuring successful implementation.
- Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize the flow of goods, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
- Build and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of logistical activities.
- Consistently maintain up-to-date knowledge and awareness of industry and global logistics trends, regulations, and best practices.
- In coordination with the Senior Management, develop an annual shipping budget, track, and report monthly performance against target.
- Develop and maintain a functional business plan for Logistics, managing change where appropriate, coordinating, implementing, and training on policies and procedures encompassing all aspects of the logistics function to meet agreed corporate objectives and drive continuous improvement.
- Assist and head (as appropriate) continuous improvement projects.
- Ensure the logistics team arranges and carries out all logistics/shipping activities, including the safe and secure packaging of products to specification, working closely with Health and Safety to always ensure compliance with all health & safety requirements.
- Work with sales and customer service to assist in the management of client relationships and ensuring all complaints relating to delivery are managed timely and appropriate manner. Monitoring customer feedback to maintain the highest levels of customer service.
- Work with the market sales groups to develop market plans to support commercial growth.
- Liaise and advise internally on all matters of delivery and associated cost.
- Manage the Logistics team and conduct regular team meetings and ensure all Human Resource requirements are completed (including but not limited to appraisals and individual development plans).
- Coordinate with planning, supply chain management, and finance to assist in the creation of financial budgets and forecasts.
- Manage and maintain relevant/required information systems in the form of computer database records and paper systems.
- Adhere to and promote all company policies and procedures, in particular working closely with Safety to always ensure compliance with all safety requirements.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, business, operations management, or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional ability and subject matter epertise.
- 10 or more years of professional experience in a similar role with expert-level knowledge and capabilities in domestic and international logistics management, to include shipping regulations, customs, procedures, and documentation requirements
- Proven ability to optimize logistics and/or supply chain processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including leadership of cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, external partners, and lead a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in analyzing data to drive operational improvements.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in using data analysis tools and performance metrics.
- The ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Experience in financial and business acumen.
- Ability to make decisions independently while managing multiple priorities
Compensation and Benefits:
- $80,0000 - $145,000 / year, depending on qualifications
