**This position will be filled as a temporary Job Appointment that may last up to 4 years.**

Job Focus Area:

The Education Consultant will serve in a dual capacity and will serve as a subject matter expert for SEA Equitable Services and will be responsible for the oversight, collection and reporting of the 21st Century Community Learning Centers data annually.

Applicants who possess the following skills and experience are encouraged to apply: The preferred candidate will have expertise in contract management and data collection protocols. Additionally, the preferred candidate will have knowledge of 21st Century Community Learning Centers and Equitable Services.

One position is available and it may be filled by job appointment, of the Department of Education, Special School District, or the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR



Six years of full-time work experience plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR



A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services; OR



An advanced degree plus one year of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

FUNCTION OF WORK:

To assist in the development and implementation of educational programs affecting populations involved in learning and education.

 

LEVEL OF WORK:

Experienced.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Close from an Education Consultant Supervisor, Education Division Director, or higher-level professional.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

None.

 

LOCATION OF WORK:

Predominantly located at the Department of Education. Other locations may be approved by SCS.

 

JOB DISTINCTIONS:

Differs from the Education Consultant 2 by the absence of advanced level duties and close supervision from a higher-level professional.

Assists with development and implementation of all aspects of an educational program affecting populations such as students, teachers, principals, central office personnel, and ancillary/support personnel in the public school systems, special schools, nonpublic schools, public and private colleges and universities, technical colleges, local neglected and delinquent institutions, and state correctional institutions; and individuals from other profit and nonprofit agencies, organizations, and institutions.

 

Assists in determining program goals and objectives and in the development of plans to effectively implement the specified program.

 

Assists research, design, implementation, and evaluation of current and long-range plans, rules, regulations, guidelines, and policies in accordance with federal or state laws and policies within a limited group of related programs within a division.

 

Assists in the design, development, and researching of projects on the basis of national/state reports, trends, economic conditions, future needs, educational research findings, and state and federal legislative or policy developments.

 

Assists schools and school systems in securing the best possible results for their efforts by building the capacity of school and system teams.

 

Assists in the development of evaluation designs to measure the quality and effectiveness of program(s) and their impact on students.

 

Assists in the planning, conducting, and evaluation of staff development and in-service training (including national, state, and regional workshops, hearings, conferences) for personnel in the Department of Education, local education agencies, colleges and universities, technical colleges, correctional schools and institutions, as well as churches, civil associations, business and industry groups, special committees and task forces, professional associations and organizations, special interest groups, parents, and other citizens.

 

Assists in providing technical assistance to local superintendents of education, other educators, and other persons outside the field of education on programs, policies, procedures, laws, and regulations; and answers questions and assists in the resolution of problems.
