Job Description

Construction Safety Consultant (Part Time)

PURPOSE :

Gramercy Risk Management’s (“GRM”) is seeking a Construction Safety Consultant to join our expanding risk management department. This Part-Time position is responsible for conducting jobsite visits in New York City (all boroughs) and Long Island. This includes scheduling, completing assessments, reviewing loss runs and underwriting information and generating reports.

The successful candidate will have strong field construction experience, with knowledge of OSHA and New York City Department of Buildings codes and requirements. Strong scheduling, time-management and relationship-building skills are critical.

This is a part-time hybrid field role that will allow you to set your schedule while working from your home office. You will be in the field about 2-3 days per week and at times be requested to work in our Uniondale location.

This position supports our successful NY Construction Insurance Program (NYCON), which consists of trade contractors and general contractors. NYCON provides auto, general and umbrella liability, property and inland marine coverages.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Efficiently organizes work and manages time to schedule, coordinate and conduct job site assessments to meet deadlines.
  • Understands industry trends and OSHA, NYC Department of Buildings and other safety-related regulations.
  • Ability to review and analyze safety programs, downstream contracts, policies, and certificates of insurance and generate recommendations.
  • Evaluate insured safety programs, recognize, monitor, and make recommendations to rectify job site safety hazards.
  • Prepare and submit field reports within required timeframes.
  • Brings noncompliance issues to the attention of Risk Management.
  • Cite the regulation/requirements associated with applicable findings in the report.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures, proactively protecting confidentiality of insured and company information.
  • Build relationships with broker partners and contractors in delivering loss prevention strategies and solutions that will reduce risks associated with job site safety.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in the field of Safety, Risk Management, or Insurance, with a minimum of 5-years related construction and safety management.
  • Professional designation and/or certifications are strongly encouraged; ARM, CRIS, NYC SSM, ASP, CSP, OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA Compliance and New York City DOB safety regulations.
  • An up-to-date OSHA 30-Hour card.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • Exhibit excellent time management skills and could work from a home office with little direct supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail orientated and possess excellent team building. Must have the ability to work independently, collaboratively.
  • Interfaces effectively with management, insureds, account teams and partners.
  • Computer skills (proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.).
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
