Job Title: Component Design Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Contract Duration: 1 Year (Possible Extension)

Pay rate : $60 to $72/hr on W2

(Candidates with 10+ years of Aerospace experience may be considered at a higher rate)

Job Description:

• We are seeking an experienced Component Design Engineer with a strong background in Aerospace engineering to join our team in Indianapolis, IN .
• This role will primarily focus on mechanical design in the area of power transmission (gears, bearings, and shafts), working closely with test results to ensure compliance with requirements, and performing design/presentation tasks along with some failure investigation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop mechanical components for aerospace systems with a focus on power transmission (gears, bearings, and shafts).
• Review and interpret test results to verify they meet design and performance requirements.
• Use 3D modeling software (preferably NX ) to develop and modify component designs.
• Collaborate with teams on failure investigations when required.
• Provide input to presentations and design discussions for technical stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering (non-negotiable).
• 5+ years of experience in Aerospace engineering. Ideal candidates will have 10+ years of aerospace experience.
• Strong mechanical design experience, especially in power transmission (gears, bearings, shafts).
• Proficiency with 3D modeling software (NX preferred).
• Familiarity with Ansys (nice to have, but not required).
• Experience with design and some exposure to engineering analysis .

Desired Experience Breakdown:

• The ideal candidate will have a 60-75% design and 25-40% analysis experience. We require candidates to provide their current or most recent breakdown of design versus analysis experience (e.g., as part of the resume or a separate write-up).
• Candidates with a 50/50 breakdown may be considered, but less than 50% design will not be accepted.

Work Schedule:

• This team is primarily in the office Monday through Wednesday .
• Some remote work flexibility may be available.

Additional Information:

• This is a 1-year contract position with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs.
