Job Description

Overview:

The California Center for Civic Participation (CalCenter) is dedicated to empowering communities through youth civic engagement, with a focus on creating opportunities for youth to influence public policies that impact their lives. We are a team of two seeking a passionate and motivated Community Impact Coordinator to enhance and expand our youth engagement and programming efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Youth Engagement and Programming:
  2. Design, coordinate, and facilitate youth-centered programs and workshops focused on civic participation and leadership.
  3. Collaborate with schools, youth organizations, and community partners to recruit participants and develop meaningful programming.
  4. Mentor and support youth participants, fostering their growth as community leaders.
  5. Community Partnerships:
  6. Build and maintain strong relationships with local organizations, government agencies, and community stakeholders to amplify program impact.
  7. Coordinate community events that promote civic participation and awareness among youth and their families.
  8. Program Development and Evaluation:
  9. Identify emerging community needs and recommend programming enhancements to address them.
  10. Develop tools to measure program effectiveness and regularly report outcomes to stakeholders and funders.
  11. Administrative Duties:
  12. Support the Executive Director and assist with broader organizational operations as needed.
  13. Manage program budgets, track expenses, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  14. Help develop and maintain the organization’s social media presence, including creating and scheduling posts to promote programs and events.
  15. Maintain detailed records of activities, participants, and program outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public administration, education, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in youth programming, civic engagement, or community organizing (minimum 2 years preferred).
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse youth populations effectively.
  • Familiarity with California’s civic and political landscape is a plus.
  • Proficiency with major social media platforms and content creation software is an asset. Including but not limited to Google, Microsoft, Canva, Adobe, Zoom, Slack, etc. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.
