Job Description

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with the Chicago Department of Transportation CDOT, Illinois Tollway, IDOT, or similar State DOT and/or local government agencies developing, delivering, and managing transportation design projects
  • Must have an IDOT documentation certificate
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of project team to complete tasks
  • Experienced in and fully capable of using the Microsoft software suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Knowledge of virtual collaboration tools such as ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Teams
  • Proven leadership, communication, collaboration, mentoring and client liaison skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Working knowledge of roadway design software used to prepare engineering and design documents including Open Roads and Open Roads Designer (ORD)

Job Description

  • Manage a wide variety and complexity of highway related projects.
  • Maintain project schedules and manage project financials including profit/loss responsibility and targeted direct margin.
  • Coordinate staff required for internal project teams, including directing, coordinating and reviewing work by others.
  • Perform design computations, oversee report, plan and specification development and sign and seal construction documents as necessary.
  • Oversee and approve invoicing/billing and manage project scope and secure change orders as necessary, chase A/R and provide internal reporting as may be required.
  • Work with other senior staff within Infrastructure & Transportation and other practices groups, as necessary, to execute project delivery.
  • Act as clients representative with the client and subcontractors during project, negotiations, execution and close-out.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and presentations for project pursuits.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships.
