Position Overview:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive team, overseeing all financial aspects of a $100 million multi-unit QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) business operating over 60 Dunkin’ Donuts and 10 Jimmy John’s locations across Massachusetts. This role is responsible for financial planning and analysis, accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, and risk management. The CFO will lead a team of four in-house accounting professionals and work closely with our executive field team and human resource department with two payroll specialists and will play a key role in strategic decision-making, franchise relations, and operational financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership:

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to drive financial strategy and long-term planning
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support growth, profitability, and operational efficiency
  • Lead financial modeling for new unit development, remodeling, acquisitions, and other capital projects

Financial Operations & Controls:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations including AP/AR, general ledger, financial reporting, and payroll
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and financial systems
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and other financial institutions

Team Management:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, including 4 accounting and 2 payroll staff
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Direct the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts
  • Analyze variances and trends to guide business decisions and corrective actions
  • Monitor unit-level performance, labor, food costs, and operational efficiencies

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations, including franchise requirements
  • Oversee insurance, legal, and risk mitigation strategies

Lending & Banking Management:

  • Manage all banking relationships, including day-to-day treasury operations and account oversight
  • Lead the structuring, negotiation, and management of credit facilities, equipment financing, and real estate loans
  • Monitor covenant compliance and reporting requirements for all lenders
  • Assess debt capacity and capital structure to support expansion and operational investments
  • Maintain strong relationships with banking partners to ensure access to favorable lending terms and support

Reporting & Communication:

  • Deliver clear and concise financial reports to the CEO and executive team
  • Present key financial metrics and business insights to stakeholders
  • Act as a liaison with Inspire Brands franchisors on financial matters

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, ideally in multi-unit retail or restaurant operations
  • Strong understanding of QSR economics, franchise systems, and unit-level profitability
  • Experience managing accounting and payroll functions
  • Proficient with financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle, or industry-specific software)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills
