Job Description

Korn Ferry has partnered with our client on their search for Branch Manager (MD-California Group Director). Our client specializes in supporting the borrowing and banking needs of law firms that operate as plaintiff litigators related to personal injury, mass tort, and class action cases / litigations. In order to sustain its aggressive growth, the client is seeking to expand its ability to cultivate and develop relationships with the most valuable target prosects in the California Region.

Purpose of the Position

The California Group Director oversees the day-to-day activities of the Banking Branch (Century City / Beverly Hills), and team with particular emphasis on managing a client-centric sales and service environment across the Western Region. The Group Director is responsible for managing a premium portfolio of commercial law firm relationships, coupled with personal clients, while cultivating new commercial law firm relationships. They will be accountable for the overall success of the California branch. The Group Director coaches and motivates the team to fulfill both individual and team sales and service expectations. This individual is responsible for all functions of the Branch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales growth by generating commercial client leads and converting them into profitable Law Firm relationships through proactive business development and relationship management.
  • Develop and maintain profitable partnerships with other lines of business, such as the NY Branch, Sales, Operations, Lending and Marketing
  • Utilize Sales Force (CRM) to oversee, assign and manage day to day commercial sales and service opportunities.
  • Analyze, understand and consistently communicate deposit, volume and service trends of the California branch.
  • Maintain deep working knowledge of Fiserv CBS Signature to establish accounts on the Bank’s core system.
  • Deliver an exceptional and consistent client experience, ensure client needs are met, escalations resolved while consistently delivering on the client experience.
  • Open, cross-sell and service high value commercial law firm accounts.
  • Retain comprehensive knowledge of all commercial bank services including loans, treasury management, and deposits while maintaining a solid understanding of the competitive California commercial banking landscape in order to offer compelling solutions and maintain market dominance.
  • Ensure branch compliance with all Federal, State and local laws and regulations as well as comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Build and develop customer relationships to position the company as the bank of choice amongst the legal community.
  • Serve as the point of contact for the Bank’s high value commercial customers, while working with a team of internal partners who support the banking functions such as wires, online banking, deposit express and positive pay.

The Candidate

Experience and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required, and 5+ years management experience.
  • Knowledge of management techniques and best practices
  • Results driven and customer focused.
  • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision.
  • High level of accountability, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Expertise in Salesforce CRM, including managing sales team to Salesforce utilization expectations.
  • Demonstrated success in leading, coaching, and motivating a team
  • Microsoft Office and excel skills.
  • In depth understanding of Branch compliance and regulations.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required, and 5+ years management experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of branch management or supervisory experience in a branch environment

Compensation

  • $180K-$215K plus bonus and benefits.
