Hospital Laboratory Department SupervisorBlood Bank Supervisor CLSWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Blood Bank Supervisor/Clinical Laboratory Scientist to lead our blood bank department at a busy trauma hospital in Southern California. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transfusion medicine, a passion for patient care, and a commitment to excellence.Responsibilities:Supervise and manage the daily operations of the blood bank department, including staff scheduling, training, and performance evaluationOversee the maintenance of accurate and complete records for all blood bank activities, including inventory control, testing, and transfusionCollaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate processing of blood samples and transfusionsMonitor quality control procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policiesDevelop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the safe and effective use of blood productsParticipate in the selection, validation, and implementation of new blood bank technology and equipmentProvide technical expertise and consultation to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals on transfusion-related issuesParticipate in quality improvement initiatives and data analysis to improve patient outcomes and efficiencyEnsure compliance with all regulatory agencies, including AABB, FDA, and CAPQualifications:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related fieldCalifornia Clinical Laboratory Scientist License or eligibility for licensureASCP certification in Blood Banking preferredMinimum of 5 years of experience in blood bank/transfusion medicine, including at least 2 years of supervisory experienceThorough understanding of transfusion medicine, blood banking, and regulatory requirementsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of hospital staffAbility to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentStrong computer skills and experience with laboratory information systems and blood bank softwareThis is a full-time position with competitive salary and benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
