ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER

MIDDLETOWN, OHIO

The City of Middletown is looking for a qualified individual to fill the position of Assistant City Manager. This position reports directly to the City Manager and assists with the City's daily administration and long-term goals and objectives. The Assistant City Manager has functional and line authority over department directors and other personnel, ensuring the smooth operation of the City government. Under the guidance of the City Manager, they ensure that all programs, policies, and initiatives established by the City Council are implemented in a timely manner and in accordance with the required administrative policies and procedures. This role involves actively communicating project statuses and issues to the City Manager, keeping them informed about all activities, progress, and any challenges. The Assistant City Manager also facilitates effective communication with department directors regarding changes in regulations, procedures, or policies while gathering information from them about project concerns and progress. Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration or Management, Business Administration, or other closely related professional field. Master of Public Administration or similar graduate degree preferred, supplemented by at least five years of progressive supervisory experience in a local government setting; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Salary Range: $126,169.68 - $182,056.16 annually plus benefit package.
